Designs that achieve a balance between the man-made environment and the natural world.
Pattern is a generalist architecture practice with offices in London, Edinburgh and Lima. The practice is focused on innovative rule-based parametric design. Mathematics and beauty are key research areas for the practice. Our objective is to create designs that achieve a balance between the man-made environment and the natural world. We are interested in projects that enhance the user experience by addressing well-being and visual harmony.
Pattern Design Ltd was founded in 2009, and quickly developed an enviable portfolio of high-profile sports and masterplanning projects. In the past ten years, the firm successfully beat larger established firms in a series of international competitions, and won major projects in the Middle East, North and South America, Europe and the United Kingdom. Our first built project, Hazza Bin Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi, opened in 2014 to widespread acclaim.
We are a practice that deliberately works in small and focused teams of architects, urban designers, technologists and designers. Our open team structure and approach fosters innovative thinking and design. Partnerships are a cornerstone of our success, and we aim to work with the world’s best to produce the highest quality designs. The Pattern team has particular expertise in sports, masterplanning and urban design, cultural, education, transportation and housing.
Our recent projects include two stadia for the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar, and eight sports venues for the Pan American Games, Lima 2019.
