Andrea is an architect and designer with 12 years’ experience. He has an analytical and creative approach to architecture, which enables him to focus on innovative and pragmatic solutions for any given design challenge. A versatile and skilled designer, he has a particular interest in the cultural significance of sports and entertainment buildings, how venues evolve, and how they can be integrated successfully into their environment. Andrea joined Pattern in 2009, working primarily on the development of Hazza Bin Zayed (HBZ) Stadium for which he was involved with all aspects of the design – developing the project from an early concept stage right through to on-site construction and co-ordination. He was also responsible for developing and managing the parametric design of the stadium.
Andrea has been involved with a number of major sporting projects including, Donbass Forum (a multipurpose arena and commercial development) and Al Wakrah Stadium design for FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. He was also a key member in the Overlay team for the Baku European Games 2015, where he delivered three of the main venues. In 2015, Andrea worked on the tender
design for the Lusail Stadium for FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 at Fosters + Partners. Since mid 2016, Andrea has been based on site in Doha, as Pattern’s in-country architect for Al Rayyan Stadium and later for Qatar Foundation Stadium.
