Sherman joined Pattern in 2016. He hails from down under, having grown up between Australia, New Zealand and Hong Kong. Sherman graduated from The University in Melbourne with a Master of Architecture degree, having also completed his Bachelor of Environments degree there. As part of his Master’s dissertation, he designed a script that simulates the stigmergic behaviour of ants and termites in order to develop new design concepts in relation to urban planning. This research also feeds into Sherman’s other design interests of the role of artificial intelligence in architecture, as well as digital fabrication and parametric design. Sherman lends his skills to Pattern’s stadia projects, in preparation for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. He has previous architectural experience in the multipurpose residential and commercial sectors designing boutique hotels for Fitzpatrick + Partners in Sydney, and high-rise towers for Farrells in Terry Farrells’ Hong Kong office.
